Janelle Monáe, Kraftwerk, Air, RAYE, Paolo Nutini, Duran Duran, Dionne Warwick and Diana Krall are among the acts announced for this year’s Montreux Jazz Festival.

The 58th edition of the historic Swiss festival takes place between 5-20 July, with an impressive and typically eclectic line-up that incorporates pop, jazz, funk, hip-hop, rock and afrobeats. Tickets go on general sale here at 11am BST tomorrow (Friday 19 April).

This year, Montreux will reveal a brand new layout while construction work is carried out on the Convention Centre, which usually hosts the festival’s main stages. An eye-catching stage will be built on the lake, below the Place du Marché, offering the public a breathtaking view. The festival is also celebrating its return to the Casino, a significant venue in the event’s history. A large number of free stages complete the new layout for the 58th edition, which will continue to accommodate its usual capacity of 250,000 attendees.

Acts playing the Lake Stage include Kraftwerk, The National, RAYE, The Smashing Pumpkins, Alice Cooper, PJ Harvey, Justice, Jessie Ware, Massive Attack, Air, Lenny Kravitz, Sting, Janelle Monáe, Michael Kiwanuka, Duran Duran, Paolo Nutini, Soft Cell and more.

With a capacity of 5,000 people, including 600 seated and covered seats at the top of the square, the main stage of this edition maintains an intimate character that sets it apart from large open-air festivals.

Meanwhile, The Casino Stage will host Dionne Warwick, Nick Mason & His Saucerful Of Secrets, André 3000, Paloma Faith, Noname, Mahalia, Brittany Howard, Loreen, D4vd, Tyla and Thee Sacred Souls.

The Casino has witnessed music history on numerous occasions, from the fire that inspired “Smoke on the Water” to the legendary performances of Nina Simone, Miles Davis, Marvin Gaye, and many others.

There are also free events planned during the festival. According to promotional material, the festival will host “Pool parties, silent discos, open air concerts, jam sessions, workshops and all-night electro events : each year, the Festival showcases 250 free concerts, DJ sets and activities, from noon to 5am!”
