Adam Lambert has shared a cover of Bonnie Tyler’s Holding Out for a Hero as the third preview of his forthcoming covers album High Drama. You can check it out below.

Holding Out for a Hero follows Adam Lambert’s versions of Duran Duran’s Ordinary World and Noël Coward’s Mad About The Boy that arrived earlier this month.

The track was written by written By Dean Pitchford and Jim Steinman and Bonnie Tyler’s original version was recorded for the soundtrack to Herbert Ross’ 1984 film Footloose, starring Kevin Bacon.

Tyler’s recording of Holding Out For A Hero later featured on her sixth studio album Secret Dreams and Forbidden Fire in 1986. Her version of the song reached No.2 on the UK Singles chart, while Footloose became the seventh highest-grossing film of 1984.

Lambert’s new album High Drama comprises 11 tracks and is set to be released through Warner Records on 24 February 2023. Fans who pre-order the album on any format from the Adam Lambert Official Store before midday on the 17 January 2023 are to be entered into the exclusive pre-sale for a special High Drama album show in London next year. More info is to be revealed in the New Year.

“The idea came up to do an album of covers, and I haven’t done that before,” Adam Lambert said of the album. “I’ve done that on American Idol, obviously – and Queen is essentially sort of a covers situation, even though I’m in the band.”

He continued, “It was like a real nice challenge to go, ‘OK, let’s find songs’ – some are obscure, some are new, some are really well-known – ‘that we think are cool, and flip them and make them sound entirely different if we can.’”

High Drama kickstarts the next chapter in Adam Lambert’s solo career, and of course draws on his well-known penchant for HIGH DRAMA! An artist comfortable in his own skin, being well and truly himself, and loving every minute.
