Wilco Share ‘Meant To Be’ Video: Watch
Wilco have shared a video for their new single Meant To Be, taken from their acclaimed latest album, Cousin.
Shot at The Rink on Chicago’s Southside, the video highlights JB Skating, a smooth dance style of skating that started in the early 70s.
The first music video from Cousin features Chicago-based synchronized skaters including Calvin Small, an OG of the skating style, and Darius Sanders, the No 1 ranked skater in the U.S
Earlier this week Wilco Jeff Tweedy appeared on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert to promote his latest book, World Within A Song: Music That Changed My Life And Life That Changed My Music. Tweedy began by discussing what he thinks makes a good song, explaining that some songs bypass the listener’s intellect and simply connect. He also said the idea of an authentic songwriter is overrated: “I think a good song is something that makes you feel authentic.”
Tweedy went on to talk about the influence of watching The Replacements open for X in St. Louis and seeing Paul Westerberg fall off the stage during the first song. He also talked about music that doesn’t connect with him personally, claiming that Dolly Parton’s I Will Always Love You leaves him cold.
In March, Wilco are set tour to Japan and Australia, for more information, check out the band’s official site. Following that, in June, the Solid Sound festival, curated by the band, returns to The Berkshires, Massachusetts, with a line-up including Jason Isbell, Nick Lowe, Dry Cleaning, Wednesday, Song Exploder and many more.
Meanwhile, as part of Nonesuch Records’ 60th anniversary celebrations, the label has announced that they will be reissuing Wilco’s landmark album, A Ghost Is Born (2004). More details of the vinyl release will be announced soon.
