The Pretenders Release New Single ‘A Love’: Watch Video
The Pretenders have shared the brand new single A Love, taken from their highly anticipated new studio album Relentless.
The album is due for release on 15 September 2023 via Parlophone and available to pre-order here on baby pink vinyl, black and CD.

Speaking about A Love, Chrissie Hynde said: “I suppose that’s the most traditionally Pretenders-sounding song on the album, in the vein of Kid or Talk Of The Town or any of the mid tempo ones over the years. I often see love/relationships almost in the same vein as drug addiction. Although, having said that, I know I am jaded, and cynical… The Buzz on Hate For Sale visited the same theme.”
Relentless marks the second collaboration between Chrissie Hynde and the band’s resident guitar hero James Walbourne, Chrissie describes their songwriting process as “a real melodic journey”. The forthcoming album, produced by David Wrench and recorded at Battery Studios in West London, features 12 new tracks performed by what Chrissie refers to as “The Pretenders Collective”. As well as Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead and The Smile providing string arrangements, this extended band features James Walbourne (guitars), Kris Sonne (drums), Chris Hill (double bass), Dave Page (bass) and Carwyn Ellis (keyboards and guitars).
The Pretenders have a busy summer of live dates lined up, first as guests of Guns N’ Roses across the North America before heading to Europe for a short run of shows. Remaining tickets are available here.
