Sister Sledge Confirmed For 2024 Margate Summer Series
The popular Margate Summer Series is launching disco spectacular Love Unlimited (Saturday 21 September) an event to set pulses racing and joy spreading. Headlining is one of the world’s greatest family bands Sister Sledge, having set dance floors alight across the world with a string of gold and platinum -selling hits from We Are Family, He’s the Greatest Dancer to Thinking of You and Lost in Music they will ensure non-stop dancing and singing in what will surely be a sledgendary performance.
Special guests Shalamar one of the best funk & soul outfits will certainly make sure this will be a night to remember, French music producer DJ Dimitri from Paris will keep grooves flowing, dance innovators and electronic group Crazy P and co-founder of the infamous Hot Chip Joe Goddard will make this an unforgettable way to end Summer and the Series.
In an official statement, Rob Waller, Founder and Programmer of the Margate Summer Series said: “We’ve seen a huge demand for summer music events in Margate and it is very exciting to create two new events as part of the Margate Summer Series.
“We wanted to create an event that celebrates artists who are pushing the boundaries of genres, teaming up with Fat Freddy’s Drop we’ve created “Down By The Sea”, to bring you a day of pioneering sounds across reggae, hip-hop and jazz.
Our hope is that “Love Unlimited” really does bring the love for the final days of summer. An event intended to celebrate inclusiveness; it will balance legends against some of the best DJs in the game. It will be an incredible culmination of disco artists, including the phenomenal Sister Sledge and Shalamar – plus DJs from Crazy P, Hot Chip, and the incredible Dimitri from Paris – this will be a truly great way to end this series and the Summer.”
Also added to the bill, is one of Scotland’s favourite pop/rock bands, Deacon Blue (Friday 28 June) who will perform a whole anthology of their greatest songs. Since their first success in the 80s, the band have wowed crowds with their euphoric sounds, infectious hooks and sweeping melodies.
Smack bang on the Margate seafront, the most prominent of locations, Margate Summer Series attendees will not only be able to revel in the music, enjoy great food and retro-inspired rides at Dreamland but can delight in the town’s unique spirit. Packed with cool cafes, award-winning restaurants, art galleries, bars and museums, all within a stone’s throw.
