Paramore Announce First Single in five years, ‘This Is Why’
Paramore have officially announced their first new single in over five years, This Is Why. It will be released on Wednesday 28 September. You can pre-save/pre-add it here.
A taster of a new tune appeared on the band’s Discord channel last week, with another clip later emerging on TikTok. The second preview was uploaded to an account named “isthiswhyisthisiswhy”.

Paramore recently revealed to Rolling Stone that they’ve been in the studio working on their first new album in five years. The band – lead singer Hayley Williams, guitarist Taylor York and drummer Zac Farro – revealed that songwriting sessions in Nashville have led to them relocating to a studio in California to record what will be their sixth album.
Paramore’s last album was 2017’s After Laughter. In the meantime, Hayley Williams has released last year’s Flowers for Vases/Descansos and the previous year’s Petals for Armor.
Back in January, Paramore singer Hayley Williams spoke to Rolling Stone about the band’s new material, “Our output has always been all over the place and with this project, it’s not that different. We’re still in the thick of it but some things have remained consistent from the start. 1) More emphasis back on the guitar, and 2) Zac should go as Animal as he wants with drum takes.”
