Neil Young Announces Next Three ‘Official Bootleg’ Titles
Neil Young has announced the next three titles in his ongoing Official Bootleg series. Dorothy Chandler Pavilion 1971, Royce Hall 1971 and Citizen Kane Jr. Blues 1974 will be released on 6 May with vinyl to follow on 3 June. All are available to pre-order here.
The sets played by Young on Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and Royce Hall — both recorded in Los Angeles — are nearly identical, and though hardcore Young fans will be familiar with the recordings, these new issues promise “radically better sound from our masters.”
Citizen Kane Jr Blues will then take listeners to the East Coast, capturing an unannounced performance from Young at the Bottom Line in New York. “In my mind it’s a hazy memory,” Young wrote of the evening on his Neil Young Archives site in 2020, “but this moment really captures the essence of where I was in 1974. Two months later, the album On The Beach was released, including songs I played that night — Ambulance Blues, Revolution Blues, On The Beach and Motion Pictures.”
