Green Day have shared a 1998 live recording of them performing Hitchin’ A Ride for the BBC. You can hear it below.

The pop punk legends said they were releasing the recording to celebrate Thanksgiving, writing: ”Bringing you out of the food coma” on Twitter.

Hitchin’ A Ride is one of dozens of tracks performed by the band for BBC Maida Vale sessions in 1994, 1996, 1998 and 2001. The album, titled The BBC Sessions, is released on December 10.

The earliest session documented on the new record came on June 8, 1994, just months after the band released their iconic album Dookie, going on to play a number of its highlights including When I Come Around and Basket Case. The 1996 session saw them supporting Insomniac, before they returned to Maida Vale again in 1998 (on the ‘Nimrod’ tour) and 2001, for Warning.

Other performances from their 1998 session include the songs Nice Guys Finish Last, Prosthetic Head and Redundant, all originally recorded for the band’s 1997 album Nimrod.

Last month the band shared their 1994 Basket Case performance. The band also released the second part of a limited edition 7″ vinyl, which is available exclusively to subscribers to their coffee company, Oakland Coffee Works.

The BBC Sessions will available in multiple physical formats, including CD and limited edition 2LP vinyl versions, including a Sea Blue/Hot Pink edition exclusive to the band’s online webstore, and a Milky Clear version that’s being sold at indie record shops.
