Gorillaz have announced that they will bring their acclaimed live show to the big screen for one day only on Wednesday 8 December with tickets available here.

The glorious, star-studded virtual experience Gorillaz Present Song Machine Live From Kong, captured at the band’s Kong Studios HQ in London, will hit cinemas globally, along with the cinema-exclusive behind-the-scenes featurette, Live From Kong, featuring unseen interview footage and commentary from Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett.

Guitarist Noodle, bassist Murdoc Niccals, drummer Russel Hobbs and frontman 2D – in all their cinematic glory – will be joined by Damon Albarn and the full Gorillaz live band plus a host of special guests, delivering an unmissable celebration of Gorillaz music.

On 12 and 13 December 2020, Song Machine Live saw Gorillaz’s first live performances of their latest album Song Machine: Season One – Strange Timez and the band’s first live performance since 2018, broadcast live around the world with three shows across three time zones through pay-per-view streaming platform LIVENow. The show will now come to cinemas globally via Trafalgar Releaseing.

Trafalgar Releasing CEO, Marc Allenby says, “We are delighted to be partnering with the LIVENow and Eleven Management teams to bring Gorillaz: Song Machine Live from Kong to cinemas worldwide. We saw great success with Gorillaz’s previous cinema event Reject False Icons, and we look forward to welcoming cinema audiences to experience their outstanding live show on the big screen, with immersive surround sound and exclusive bonus content.”

With seven albums to their name, Gorillaz (2001), Demon Days (2005), Plastic Beach (2010), The Fall (2011), Humanz (2017), The Now Now (2018) and Song Machine: Season One – Strange Timez (2020), Gorillaz is a truly global phenomenon, achieving success in entirely new and unique ways, touring the world from San Diego to Syria, Montevideo to Manchester and winning numerous awards including the coveted Jim Henson Creativity Honor.
