Gorillaz Share A Taster Of New Single, ‘Cracker Island’
Gorillaz have announced a new single, Cracker Island, by sharing an 11-second clip of the song on social media. The clip features images of each member of the cartoon band alongside the caption “Cracker Island is coming…” and the hashtag #thelastcult. Fans can pre-save Cracker Island here.
The news follows a triumphant set from Gorillaz at this year’s Primavera festival.
Cracker Island has been performed on the band’s current tour with vocals from Thundercat, though the virtuoso bassist has not been confirmed as a guest vocalist on the official release yet. Cracker Island will mark the first new music from Gorillaz since last year’s Meanwhile EP. The three-track release saw Gorillaz enlist Jelani Blackman, AJ Tracey and Alicai Harley for guest spots.
The news follows the announcement of Gorillaz’s first North American tour since 2018. In a statement it was confirmed that Damon Albarn and his 14-piece band will be “aided and abetted by a varying cast of guest performers” over the course of the dates. EARTHGANG will support Gorillaz on all dates except Orlando and Miami, where Jungle will be special guests.
