Echo & The Bunnymen have announced they will perform the songs from their classic fourth album, Ocean Rain, with the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra at four selected shows in the UK in September 2023. Tickets for the four shows – in Nottingham, Edinburgh, Liverpool and London – will go on sale at 10am on 9 December.

The band are also set to appear on the Sunday of next year’s Isle of Wight Festival, which will be headlined by Pulp, George Ezra, The Chemical Brothers and Robbie Williams. In addition, the Scouse post-punk legends have also been confirmed for the line-up of the Bearded Theory Festival, scheduled to take place at Catton Park, Derbyshire, across 25-28 May 2023.

The 2023 Bearded Theory festival line-up features a typically eclectic mix of artists, also including New York rockers Interpol, Scottish heroes Primal Scream, self-proclaimed gypsy-swing punk rockers Gogol Bordello, one of synth pop’s founding fathers Gary Numan and seven-piece Celtic-punks Flogging Molly.

Organizers for the event have also announced that ticket prices for teenagers and children will be the same as tickets for this year’s bash while the festival will also offer monthly payment instalment plans, to enable buyers to spread the cost of purchase up until May 2023.

Set in the heart of the national forest, Bearded Theory is returning for its 14th year, with a brand-new Big Top Stage in the main arena accompanying two other stages.

Echo and the Bunnymen’s most recent studio album is 2018’s The Stars, The Ocean And The Moon.

Ian McCulloch, Will Sergeant and company will play their 1984 album, Ocean Rain, in full accompanied by The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra at the following shows:

12 September: Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall
14 September: Edinburgh, Usher Hall
16 September: Liverpool, M&S Bank Arena
18 September: London, Royal Albert Hall.
