Dua Lipa has caused speculation that her third album is imminent by wiping her Instagram posts and changing her profile picture.

Dua has been suggesting a change of direction for her next album in recent months. Back in August, the singer hinted at a new sound in a new interview with The New York Times Style Magazine.

The singer said that the process of making her third album has been “insular and exciting” and suggested that the album will be influenced by 70s psychedelia, she also suggested that Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker may be on board. “You have no idea what the reaction is going to be once it’s out, so there’s this nervous feeling,” she added.

Dua also said that this next project will be “more personal”, though she is keen not to bare her soul. “I think it’s a marketing tool: How confessional can you be?” she added. “I also don’t put so much of my life out there for people to dig into the music in this weird, analytical way.”

Meanwhile, back in July, Mark Ronson (who produced Dua’s last single – Dance The Night, from the Barbie soundtrack – told Vulture about the album. “I mean, I’ve heard some of it and it’s incredible,” he said. “I think that’s why there’s the disco ball that smashes in the video, right? This feels like her triumphant stomp on that era of her music into whatever she does next.”

Ronson also told the New York Times Style Magazine about Dua’s work ethic, “I’ve probably spent more time waiting for artists to show up in the studio than I have working with artists… If she’s two minutes late — literally, if it’s 12:02 — there’s a text: ‘Sorry, running five minutes late.’ That’s not superstar behaviour, you know? She still works with the mind-set that she hasn’t [made it] yet.”
