Dance The Night replaces another hit from Greta Gerwig’s film, Billie Eilish’s What Was I Made For at the top spot. It’s Dua’s fourth UK no 1 single following New Rules (2017), One Kiss with Calvin Harris (2018) and Cold Heart with Elton John (2021).

The single also marks the first time a British female solo artist has reached No 1 in the UK in more than 12 months, since Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill last year.

Dance The Night has been steadily rising up the charts since the phenomenal success of Barbie The Movie. Barbie hit the billion dollar box office milestone after just 17 days of release, becoming the fastest Warner Bros release (and eighth in the studio’s 100-year history) to join the $1 billion club.

The single is currently available to buy on cassette after the limited CD single release sold out.

Dua recently spoke about the music she enjoys in a new interview with Vogue. “I listen to Sting, who my dad used to love,” said the singer. “And all those voices that I grew up with: The Police, Stereophonics, Primal Scream, Pulp, Sades… And, of course, David Bowie, Prince, Elton John… I also love la chanson française, Spanish music… I’m very eclectic, actually.”

When asked whether she regularly listens to her own music Dua revealed, “I never listen to my own music. When I’m working on an album, it’s on repeat, but as soon as it releases, I never listen to it again – unless it comes on randomly on the radio or in the club…”
