Blur: First Night At Wembley Stadium Setlist
Blur played the first of two shows at Wembley Stadium to a rapturous sell-out crowd last night (9 July), setlist below.
Frontman Damon Albarn told the crowd the band had been waiting all their lives to play Wembley and went on to perform a 25-song setlist packed with hits and new favourites from the upcoming album The Ballad Of Darren, along with a few surprises.
Before the show Albarn told ITV News, “It’s amazing for Graham [Coxon, guitarist] and me to sit here, having started off in our little humble Portakabin in Colchester at the age of 12 and to be here, thank you very much everybody.”
Coxon went on to talk about how best to approach such a massive gig, saying, “You’ve always got to try and shrink a place, to make it feel like a club”.
He added: “That can be a hard if the gap between the stage and front row is big, it’s like a huge moat sometimes. It’s not too bad here at Wembley Stadium.”
Blur will play the second on their Wembley shows this evening (9 July). Paul Weller and The Selecter will provide the support at what promises to be another triumphant night. A limited number of tickets are still available here.
