Vinyl Soundtracks Reissue Series To Launch In September
Warner Music Group will showcase its impressive catalogue on the 3rd and 17th September with special vinyl reissues for acclaimed soundtracks to blockbuster films, including Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas, the original Space Jam (celebrating its 25th anniversary this year), and three Quentin Tarantino films, Jackie Brown, Inglorious Basterds, and Death Proof. The series will be available to pre-order here.
The soundtrack for Goodfellas hasn’t been produced on vinyl since the film was released nearly 30 years ago and will be reissued on blue vinyl on 3 September. This will also be the first global pressing for the album, which features songs by Tony Bennett, Aretha Franklin, The Shangri-Las, and many more.
Music has always played a pivotal role in Quentin Tarantino’s movies and the three selected for reissue are no exception. Pressed on blue vinyl, Jackie Brown: Music From The Miramax Motion Picture features songs by Bobby Womack and Peace, Bill Withers, and The Delfonics. Death Proof includes rare music from the 60s and 70s and will be available on tri-color red, clear, and black vinyl. And finally, Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds: Motion Picture Soundtrack will be pressed on blood-red translucent vinyl.
The upcoming series also features two soundtracks from the Batman franchise. Batman Forever – Music From The Motion Picture will be released 3 September and contains several hit singles, including; Seal’s Kiss From A Rose, which won three Grammy® awards, an MTV Movie Award for Best Song and charted at No 1 in the US Billboard Top 100. The Grammy® award-winning The Dark Knight (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) by Hans Zimmer & James Newton Howard will be out on 17th September.
Other soundtracks to come include Alice Cooper’s 1975 concept album Welcome To My Nightmare and the soundtrack for the 1993 hit movie Dazed And Confused, Richard Linklater’s bittersweet coming of age film which follows a group of American teenagers on their last day of school in 1976 set to classic rock, including Paranoid by Black Sabbath, Low Rider by WAR and Rock’n’Roll All Night by Kiss.
The soundtracks series is a potent reminder of how integral music is to storytelling in films. Whether it’s an entire score by Alice Cooper in Welcome To My Nightmare or The Rolling Stones’ Monkey Man blasting during the frenetic helicopter scene in Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas – certain songs are forever linked to specific movie moments.
Soundtracks available on 3 September 2021
Alice Cooper – Welcome To My Nightmare
1LP on clear vinyl, limited edition of 11,500 copies

The stage show is justifiably legendary, replete with boa constrictors, guillotines, and other Grand Guignol theatrics. This 1975 Atlantic release is its aural equivalent – a loosely conceptual set exploring a child’s dark dreams. With guitarists Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter supplying the firepower, this nightmare features plenty of hard rock (Cold Ethyl, The Black Widow).
