Silk Sonic (Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak’s new group) have launched a new limited radio series on Apple Music 1, An Evening With Silk Sonic. The duo will present four, hour-long episodes during which they’ll play a genre-spanning collection of their favourite music and speak to “surprise guests [with] even more surprising conversations”. You can listen to the first episode of An Evening With Silk Sonic – on which the pair are joined by Bootsy Collins – here.

“Apple Music asked us to host a radio show to talk about the album. We had so much fun that we’ve decided to retire from music and become full-time radio personalities,” Mars said in a statement.

“We want to thank Apple Music for helping us find our new calling. Goodbye cruel world of music. Hello, radio. See you at the top.”

.Paak added: “When we come together on those rare instances when the clouds open and the stars unite, we go as Silk Sonic. It’s been a long time coming, but it’s never too late to turn it around, and speaking of never too late, I think we right on time.”

The pair released their first album together, also called An Evening With Silk Sonic, last week to rave reviews. The record features extensive contributions from “special guest host” Bootsy Collins. An Evening With Silk Sonic also features contributions Thundercat, drummer Homer Steinweiss of the Dap-Kings, Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, James Fauntleroy, D’Mile, and more.

Anderson .Paak discussed working with Mars in an interview with Apple Music last week: “I’ve done collabs with everybody. I don’t know not one person old, young, everyone on my checklist I’ve already checked and I’ve done all kinds of stuff, I’ve had records that have gotten Grammys but there’s stuff – but like theres always a place that an artist wants to go and I wanted to go straight to the top.

“And there’s a cheat code, you know what I’m saying? Everybody told me the cheat code is linking up with this dude. Get Bruno on your side, and yeah, it’s dope.”
