Sam Ryder Reveals His Celebrity Crush
Sam Ryder has revealed his celebrity crush, his most treasured possession and more in a new interview with The Guardian.

When asked who his celebrity crush was, Ryder revealed it was a pop star from his youth: “Back when I was a kid, it was Rachel Stevens from S Club 7. I met her the other day at a Comic Relief filming. I am getting flustered now even talking about it.”
Ryder also spoke about the living person he most admires, “Brian May, because of his love of wildlife and love of music. He’s a kind, gentle soul.”
The Queen guitarist is also responsible for giving Ryder his most treasured possession, “A sixpence from Brian May; he plays guitar with a sixpence instead of a plectrum.”
Ryder’s connection with the Queen has been no secret. Following a personal invitation from original band members and Dave Grohl. Sam had the honour of appearing on stage with them during the Taylor Hawkins tribute show. Moreover, in a breathtaking performance during Eurovision, Sam was joined by Roger Taylor on drums for a captivating rendition of Mountain.
In a statement before the show, Ryder said: “What an honour to be invited back to the Eurovision stage for a second time! I can’t wait to be back amongst the beautiful chaos of it all and to watch the incredible artists perform this time around, while bringing you a special performance of our own. Big love!”
Ryder also released the single Fought & Lost, featuring a Brian May solo.
When asked for his greatest achievement, Ryder looked back to the Eurovision entry that made his name, “People told us Eurovision was like a poisoned chalice – to have been part of an amazing team that worked on changing the attitudes around that is really cool.
