Sam Ryder has released his new single Somebody, his follow-up to his Eurovision runner-up, Space Man. Somebody is taken from the upcoming debut album, There’s Nothing But Space, Man.

“Somebody is inspired by YOU! All of the kindness, positivity and joy we’ve experienced so far this year,” Sam said in a statement. “Ultimately it’s about the joy of giving love and experiencing love.”

On Friday (19 August) morning Sam took to Instagram to thank his fans for their comments on the song:

“I just wanted to jump on here very quickly, and very bleary-eyed to say thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone that’s been listening, sending encouragement and good vibes for the new tune Somebody that came out last night.”

“None of this — none of it happens without you — and that’s what makes releasing music so cool. And I’ve been pacing around muttering to myself thinking about that phrase ‘releasing music’ and why that phrase is so cool as well.”

“And I think it’s because it reminds us to relinquish a certain amount of control and let go of our expectations. Because at the end of the day we are releasing music, right, and everything that goes with it.”

“And over the last few years — and this year in particular — I’ve really been resonating with that idea that expectation is limitation and that life is wonderful enough and capable enough of springing up magic without us having to lay down the boundary lines, the pathways and the routes through our expectation.”

“Anyway, I love ya, have an amazing day and I’ll see you all soon.”

Next year, Ryder will head out on his first major tour since finding fame, tour dates below:
