Royal Blood Set For Fourth Consecutive UK No 1 Album
Royal Blood currently look set for their fourth consecutive UK No 1 album this week with Back to the Water Below.

The fourth record from the rock duo, comprising Mike Kerr and Ben Thatcher, is outselling its closest competition, The 1975’s The 1975, more than 2:1 at the midweek mark.
Back to the Water Below looks likely to join Royal Blood’s previous chart-toppers Royal Blood (2014), How Did We Get So Dark? (2017) and Typhoons (2021), meaning the band would then have reached the top spot with all their album releases so far.
Meanwhile, the reissue of Jethro Tull’s 14th studio album The Broadsword and the Beast could see the album achieve its highest chart placement as it celebrates its 40th anniversary. The album charted at No 27 upon its original release in 1982.
And Empire State Bastard – Biffy Clyro vocalist Simon Neal’s new project with former Oceansize frontman Mike Vennart – look set to score a Top 10 album at the first time of asking as their debut, Rivers of Heresy, is currently sitting at No 7.
Royal Blood’s Back To The Water Below was produced by band members Mike Kerr and Ben Thatcher at their home studio in Brighton. In a statement, Thatcher said, “I think this record was about letting the ideas take us where they needed to go. If there was a song that was calling us to do something that wasn’t typically what we’re known for, that’s where we’re going to go. The songs are in charge and if that means having a record that’s quite varied that’s what we’re going to go for, rather than trying to shoehorn everything into the same world. As a result, we’ve made a record that’s a bit of a rollercoaster. It’s everything we could do.”
