Lizzo, Stranger Things, Adele Nominated For Emmy Awards

Lizzo, Adele and Donald Glover are among the musicians nominated in the Emmy Awards 2022, set to take place 22 September.

Watch Out For The Big Grrrls, the TV series hosted by Lizzo, was nominated for six Emmys in all, including one for Outstanding Competition Program category against Ru Paul’s Drag Race, Top Chef, The Voice and more. In the Reality Program field, the show was also nominated for Outstanding Casting, Outstanding Cinematography, Outstanding Directing. It earned additional nods for Outstanding Picture Editing for a Structured Reality or Competition Program, as well as Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Nonfiction or Reality Program.

Adele’s One Night Only special was nominated for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Variety Series or Special, Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special, Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction for a Variety Special, Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded), and Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control for a Special. The special was broadcast around the release of her new album 30 and featured conversations between Adele and Oprah.

Donald Glover was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in Atlanta, putting him against Ted Lasso’s Jason Sudeikis, Barry’s Bill Hader, and The Great’s Nicholas Hoult, plus Steve Martin and Martin Short for their roles on Only Murders in the Building. Atlanta earned two more nominations for Outstanding Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series (Half-Hour) and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series.

Meanwhile, Netflix’s Stranger Things, which turned Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” into a surprising 2022 hit, is up for Best Music Supervision against Euphoria, The White Lotus, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Better Call Saul, and Ozark. The hit series was nominated for several other awards, including Outstanding Casting, Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Sound Mixing, and more. Euphoria was also nominated for Outstanding Choreography, Outstanding Contemporary Costumes, and Outstanding Contemporary Hairstyles, among others.
