Liam Gallagher & John Squire Share ‘Just Another Rainbow’ Video: Watch
Liam Gallagher and John Squire have shared the music video for their first joint single, Just Another Rainbow – watch below.
The clip for the song – which is currently in the running to hit No 1 in the UK singles chart based on midweek figures – was directed by Charles Mehling and filmed in an abandoned railway tunnel in Bury.
While Just Another Rainbow is the first taster of the duo’s upcoming joint album, a press release has confirmed that “there will be much more new music to come – and there could well be shows, too”. Speaking of their collaboration, Gallagher hailed Squire as “a top songwriter”.
Gallagher revealed how the song came about in an interview with Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe. “That one did come easy,” he said. “It just grew out of a riff. The first one. It grew like bamboo. It’s all to do with John. He wrote everything.”
Squire added, “I live on a hill, and I do see a lot of rainbows from there when they’re available. Well, it just came out that I didn’t have a particular urge or need to write a song that was about disappointment, but it scans that way on first listen. But I find it one of the most uplifting tracks on the album.”
Gallagher went on to discuss the upcoming album, “There are 10 [songs] on the album, but we’ve done eight. We demoed eight of them in John’s studio and then John done another two songs and we recorded them for the first time. Sang them for the first time out in America in LA. [The album] hasn’t got a title as such. It’s just Liam and John, like Liam Gallagher and John Squire, really.
