LCD Soundsystem Announce New Year’s Shows In San Francisco
LCD Soundsystem have announced two New Year’s concerts taking place on 30 and 31 December. James Murphy’s band will take the stage at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco on both nights, with support from Peaches and 2ManyDJs.

Next week, LCD Soundsystem will kick off a 12-date residency in their home city of New York, with gigs across Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens taking place between 16 November and 10 December. Earlier this year, the group played a string of shows for the touring Re:Set concert series, and performed at festivals including Miami’s III Points and Arkansas’ Format Festival.
James Murphy and Nancy Whang of the band recently featured on Dancer, the latest single from IDLES. It’s not the first time the two bands have crossed paths. During their Re:SET show in Chicago on 25 June, members of LCD Soundsystem – including frontman James Murphy – joined IDLES to provide backing for the last song of their set, Rottweiler.
James Murphy shared a lengthy statement back in March, detailing the group’s plans for the year, including their “reluctance” to get into the album-tour-break cycle of music.
“We really wanted to stop living like that,” he wrote, referring to the non-stop tour cycle. “We talked about just playing some shows in New York, since most of us live here, and not making it too big of a deal. Like, just playing because we like it and because we like one another. Just be a New York band for a bit. And maybe we’ll do something like that every year. Just stay in shape, if that makes sense.”
