Hayley Williams has spoken about her long friendship with Taylor Swift in an interview on The Jimmy Fallon Show to promote Paramore‘s new remix album RE: This Is Why.

With Paramore set to open for Swift on next year’s Eras Tour shows, Williams explained to Fallon how their friendship started, “Me and Taylor met because both of us — Paramore and Taylor — were nominated for Best New Artist the same year at the Grammys. We were at some Grammy party — it was actually Timbaland’s Grammy party. Huge. I was very nervous, but a woman came up to me and she said, ‘I’m Taylor Swift’s mom and, you know, Taylor doesn’t have a lot of friends her age that do music. And I would love to, like, you know, introduce you guys or get your number.'”

Williams went on to explain a Paramore T-shirt that features two X-rays of her neck, “I know a lot about neck bones at this point. My cervical vertebrae, C5 and 6, were like eroding and I had what’s called military neck. I had headbanged the curvature out of my neck. So it just became a huge part of my life.”

Paramore have just released Re: This Is Why, a remixed and reworked version of their latest album.

The band described the project as “almost a remix album” in a statement on social media, saying, “We’ve long wanted to recognize the connection we have with some of the artists who’ve influenced us as a band and/or who have cited our band as an influence. Some of the songs have been remixed sort of classically, while others were reworked or rewritten. It’s incredible to hear all our worlds colliding.”
