Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Killer Mike, SZA, Paramore, Boygenius and Miley Cyrus were among the big winners at last night’s Grammys.

Swift made history as the first artist to win the prestigious album of the year award for the fourth time, this time for Midnights.

Earlier in the ceremony, while collecting best pop vocal album, Swift announced the release of her new 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, on 19 April.

Eilish’s What Was I Made For? from Barbie was named best song of the year and best song written for visual media. “Damn, that’s stupid guys!” she said during her speech. “That was a crazy list of incredible people … I’m shocked out of my balls.”

Meanwhile, Paramore won their first two Grammy Awards. The Nashville band took home Best Alternative Music Performance at the 2024 Grammys for This Is Why, the lead single from Best Rock Album winner, This Is Why.

And Killer Mike won three awards in quick succession: best rap album for his album Michael, and best rap song and best rap performance for his track Scientists and Engineers featuring Andre 3000, Future and Eryn Allen Kane.

A highlight of the ceremony came when Joni Mitchell performed at the Grammys for the first-ever time at the age of 80. In her introduction, Brandi Carlile called her “one of the most influential and emotionally generous creators in human history”. Mitchell also won the award for best folk album for At Newport.
