FKA Twigs has spoken about her unreleased Dua Lipa collaboration, and revealed “there’s actually no reason why we haven’t finished it.”

Talking to DJ Zane Lowe on his Apple Music 1 show to promote her new Caprisongs mixtape, FKA Twigs discussed the song first confirmed by Dua Lipa in 2020. The track, titled Why Don’t You Love Me, was then teased during Dua Lipa’s Studio 2054 livestream later that year.

FKA twigs revealed to Lowe, “A friend of a friend sent me a voice note of somebody that I’ve never even met, like basically hassling me for that Dua Lipa bump. I was like, that’s just like the cherry on top. I’ll just put that on. Why isn’t it on the internet? Honestly, there’s literally no reason.”

She then added, “I think there’s actually no reason why we haven’t finished it. I don’t even have a reason. I’ve been busy doing the mixtape, but maybe I’ll give Dua a little call. Maybe it’s something that we need to- Yeah, we’ll do it. Yeah, we will. We will do it. We’ll do it. We’ll do it. We’ll do it. Yeah. There’s no reason. I have no explanation. I feel like I’m in school, you know when your teacher tells you off and you just have no reason for why you didn’t do your homework?”

After being forced to postpone the Future Nostalgia Tour due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Dua Lipa arranged for the livestream in order to perform songs from her 2020 album live. She used the livestream to fuel her fascination with Studio 54. Angèle, Bad Bunny, the Blessed Madonna, Buck Betty, Elton John, J Balvin, Kylie Minogue, Miley Cyrus and Tainy performed as guests along with FKA Twigs. Studio 2054 brought in an estimated 5 million viewers, setting a record for attendance of a paid livestream.
