Ed Sheeran Scores Biggest UK Album Of 2022 So Far
Ed Sheeran has the biggest album of 2022 so far with his fourth solo full-length, =. Sheeran took the top spot after clocking up 689,000 combined UK chart sales. It is also the most streamed and downloaded album of the year to date.
Sheeran’s third album, ÷, continues its staggering success by also featuring in this year’s Top 10. Sheeran’s not the only act with staying power – Fleetwood Mac also make an appearance in the chart at No 6 with their greatest hits, 50 Years – Don’t Stop.
Meanwhile, it’s been a great year for more youthful pop acts with Harry Styles’ Harry’s House at No 2 and Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour at No 3.

When it comes to singles, Harry Styles has the edge, with his long-running No 1 hit, As It Was, the biggest track in the UK so far this year. The track, which has topped the charts for 10 weeks, racked up 95 million streams and was also the most physically purchased (11,000 units) and digitally downloaded (33,000 units) song of the year so far in the UK, according to the Official Charts Company.
Ed Sheeran has the most singles in the Top 10 of the year to date though. Peru, his collaboration with Fireboy DML, is at No 2, while Bad Habits (4) and Shivers (6) calso make the chart. Ed is also present in the wider Top 40 thanks to his collaboration with Camila Cabello, Bam Bam (No 22).
And Kate Bush’s renaissance has meant that Running Up That Hill is the 25th biggest single of the year so far, 37 years after its original release.
