Damien Rice has announced his comeback with details of a 2023 UK and European tour and a glimpse of new music. Tickets for the tour are available here.

The dates mark the return of Irish singer-songwriter to the spotlight. Rice last released an album nine years ago with My Favourite Faded Fantasy, which came eight years after its predecessor, 2006’s 9.

Rice hasn’t released any new music alongside the announcement of the dates, but promised that “more dates [are] coming soon” and shared a teaser of him performing a new song and confirmed that new music is set to be arriving, see below.

Rice has also contributed to a charity album called The Busk Record. The recording of The Busk Record took place over two nights in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin in December 2021, when a host of artists came together to lend their talents to Dublin Simon Community as Covid restrictions meant the charity’s annual Christmas Eve Busk couldn’t happen in-person. Rice contributed the song Astronaut and other artists on the album include Bono, Lisa O’Neill and Glenn Hansard.

The Busk 2021 was streamed on YouTube on Christmas Eve last year, with individual artists being supported by The Busk Choir; an assembly of artists, crew, Dublin Simon staff and volunteers and service users who were present at the recording.

The Busk Record is available to preorder now from thebuskrecord.com and will be released on Friday 9 December 2022 on vinyl at a cost of €27.95 with proceeds going to Dublin Simon Community to help people experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Dublin and the surrounding counties.
