Charli XCX is set to receive the ASCAP Global Impact Award at a party to celebrate the ASCAP Pop Music Awards 2024 winners on Wednesday, 8 May in Los Angeles. The invitation-only event will recognize the songwriters and publishers of ASCAP’s most-performed pop songs of the past year.

Previous recipients of the ASCAP Global Impact Award include Lana Del Rey and Hillary Lindsey.

“Charli is an unstoppable creative force,” ASCAP chairman of the board and president Paul Williams said in a statement. “Her avant-garde style is daring, authentic and infectious as she expertly infuses the best of the underground and mainstream worlds into her music.”

“I’m honoured to receive this award from ASCAP,” Charli XCX said. “It’s cool to see them advocate for authenticity and nice to be recognised by an organization dedicated to supporting songwriters and fostering an environment where we can craft music we love.”

Charli XCX received the Powerhouse Award at the 2024 Billboard Women in Music Awards on 6 March at YouTube Theater in Inglewood, California. She has also received the Ivor Novello Visionary Award, two Billboard Music Awards and a YouTube Music Award as well as nominations at the Grammys, BRIT Awards and MTV EMAs.

Charli XCX’s most recent album, Crash, reached No. 7 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart. Her sixth studio album, Brat, is due this summer.

Last month she spoke to Vogue about the new album, suggesting a change of sound, “I always work in contrasts—each thing I do has to be completely polar opposite to the next thing. Electronic music is also my true love, and at the beginning of my career I was starting out in raves in London, so it kind of feels like going back to my roots.”
