The Black Keys are set to take the ice at next year’s NHL Winter Classic, a marquee outdoor ice hockey game held annually at Fenway Park.

The 2023 Winter Classic will be held on 2 January and will feature the Boston Bruins and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Legendary R&B group Bell Biv DeVoe are also on the bill, along with renowned orchestra the Boston Pops, conducted by Keith Lockhart. The performances will be televised as part of the NHL Winter Classic broadcast on TNT in the U.S. and on Sportsnet, CBC and TVA Sports in Canada at 2 p.m. ET. The Black Keys will perform during the first intermission.

The Ohio duo are also gearing up for a massive European and UK tour beginning in June, joined by Spoon on most dates. Later in the summer, they’ll join the line-up for Mad Cool in Madrid, where they’ll perform alongside the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Liam Gallagher. In addition, The Black Keys will make an appearance at Portugal’s NOS Alive with Arctic Monkeys, Lizzo, and more.

The band’s Dan Auerbach can also be found on his other project The Arcs’ upcoming album ‘Electrophonic Chronic’, due for release on January 27, 2023. The album will be the band’s first since 2015’s ‘Yours, Dreamily’, and will be released under Auerbach’s own Easy Eye Sound label.

Formed in Akron, Ohio in 2001, The Black Keys are singer/guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney. They have been called “rock royalty” by the Associated Press and “one of the best rock ‘n’ roll bands on the planet” by Uncut. Cutting their teeth playing small clubs, the band has gone on to sell out arena tours and has released 11 studio albums. The band has won six GRAMMY Awards and a BRIT, among other worldwide accolades, and headlined festivals in North America, South America, Mexico, Australia and Europe.
