Metallica To Stream 40th Anniversary Concerts From San Francisco
Metallica are set to stream their 40th anniversary shows next week for free on Amazon Music’s Twitch account, as well as on Amazon Music and Amazon Prime Video. The shows are set to take place on 17 and 19 December at The Chase Centre, San Francisco.

Following the streams (which will begin at 9pm PT on both nights – 5am GMT), 2022 will see Metallica release the sets for on-demand viewing on the Prime Video channel The Coda Collection. According to a statement on The Code Collection website, fans can look forward to much more in the way of vintage live sets over the coming year: “These TWO Metallica 40th anniversary live streams are just the beginning. The Coda Collection has partnered with Metallica to deliver a series of concert and documentary films available only on our premium Amazon Prime Video channel, as well as additional exclusives and collectables throughout 2022.”
The first two classic sets to hit The Coda Collection are Cunning Stunts (1997) and Orgullo, Pasión, y Gloria: Tres Noches en la Ciudad de México (2009). Filmed in Fort Worth, Texas, in May 1997 on Metallica’s memorable tour in support of Load, Cunning Stunts captures more than two hours of concert footage and behind-the-scenes footage. Meanwhile, Recorded at Foro Sol, Mexico City, Mexico, on June 4, 6 and 7, 2009, Orgullo, Pasión, y Gloria: Tres Noches en la Ciudad de México presents Metallica at the peak of their World Magnetic tour.
Following those vintage sets will be 1991’s A Year and a Half in the Life of Metallica. The documentary is an inside look at the creation of one of the most successful, influential and impactful albums ever made, their groundbreaking 1991 LP, Metallica. It also covers the band on its subsequent tour in support of the blockbuster record.
