Fred Again.., Pulp, PJ Harvey and The Smile are among the first wave of artists to be announced for next year’s Flow Festival.
Next year’s event will mark the 20th anniversary of the inner city festival, and it will take place from August 9-11 at the Suvilahti Power Plant area of Helsinki. Tickets are available here.
Other names confirmed for the weekend are Jessie Ware, Denzel Curry, Kenya Grace, Overmono and Body & Soul, with more to be added in the new year.
It’s been a big year for Fred Again.., AKA Fred Gibson, who released the massive single Rumble with Skrillex and Flowdan in January, and Secret Life, the collaborative album with Brian Eno, in May.
In April, the producer also performed a coveted NPR Tiny Desk Concert and later that month played the final set of Coachella with Skrillex and Four Tet. He went on to headline a four-night residency at London’s prestigious Alexandra Palace.
Over the past 19 years, Flow Festival has grown from a small club event to the trailblazing European music and arts festival it is today.
Flow Festival is known for its long-standing sustainability work reaching over a decade. The festival’s carbon footprint has been calculated and compensated with official standardised projects from 2009–2019.
In 2021, the festival launched a new research project with D-mat, an expert company for a sustainable future, to evaluate the festival ecosystem’s overall environmental impact and develop new tools for more sustainable festival production.
Based on the calculations and expertise provided by D-mat, Flow has reduced its environmental debt by donating to the Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation. The total donation sum is based on the calculations made at Flow Festival 2022. With the donation, four hectares of Finnish forest are permanently protected. Flow will continue to reduce its environmental debt through the Foundation in the coming years
