Duran Duran have announced they will perform as part of the line up for British Summer Time in Hyde Park in 2021.

The band had been booked to play as the final headliners for the event earlier this year, but it was cancelled due to the ongoing global pandemic.

The outdoor concert series, which occurs annually, was meant to be held in July and feature artists including Little Mix, Kendrick Lamar, Pear Jam and Taylor Swift, but had to be called off.

The event would have marked the band’s first live performance in London in five years. The new event, scheduled for Saturday 11th July 2021, will now see them perform live in London after six years, and also celebrate their 40th anniversary as a group.

Nile Rodgers and Chic will still support Duran Duran, as had been planned for this year’s event, but Grace Jones has been added to the new line up, and more artists are still to be announced and Pearl Jam have also rescheduled their live set for summer 2021.

Speaking about the upcoming gig, Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon said: “Seeing as we had to postpone the 2020 show, BST Hyde Park 2021 will be extra special to us. After the year that everyone’s been through, we’re aiming to make next summer into the kind of party we all deserve.”

Previous ticketholders for this year’s BST event, as well as fans looking to attend next year can buy tickets this week, with presales on Wednesday and Thursday, and general sale on Friday.
